What started as small talk late one night in Mobile Alabama ended up being one of the true “hunts of a lifetime” nearly 18mths later.
“We departed Alabama Friday at noon on Sept 14th, 2012 in route for SW Colorado. Over 3,000 miles later we arrived in Colorado, ascending over 10,000ft along the way. We hiked in to a wilderness area nearly three miles and made camp for five days and four nights.
During the first morning of hunting we bedded a mature bull on a ridge only a half mile away from our camp – We would spend the remainder of our time in Colorado hunting this bull. We eventually were able to close the gap to well within 100yds but as it often happens with the wind in the mountains…he sniffed us out before we could close the deal. Even without the kill, the hunt lived on. The spirit of the mountains and the spirit of the hunt are sure to draw us back year after year. Looking forward to Colorado 2013!”
