New Jersey Black Bear | Tips
About Video
Uploaded on 1 November, 2015
Boone & Crockett presents an in-depth look in the conservation and management of bear population in New Jersey. When bear hunting was shut down by anti-hunting activists more than 30 years ago, the bear population exploded due to lack of management. As a result, human and bear encounters became prevalent raising the issues of safety when homes were broken into, and livestock were killed.
Through hard work, and data from research gathered over the years, New Jersey Fish and Wildlife pushed through a comprehensive management policy that helped reinstate bear hunting in the state. Conservation through ethical hunting is an important aspect in maintaining a balance of wildlife. The next generation should be educated correctly through science and facts on wildlife management and fair chase hunting.
