Maintaining The Waterfowl Habitat In Utah | Waterfowl
About Video
Uploaded on 7 June, 2011
The wetlands where waterfowl flourish are often overran by dead and dying reeds and grasses. These dead plants eventually overwhelm the area when there is no lucky lightning strikes to start wild fires for many seasons, humans sometimes have to step in and kick start the process themselves by starting controlled burns. The freshwater lakes surrounding The Great Salt lake in Utah are no exception to this and as the video shows, the hunters are burning the dead grassy areas to open up the area for more wildlife and to help new plant life grown in its place. This adds to the area and makes for a more desirable location for waterfowl to visit.
