Watch here as this stag prepares for rut in part 2 of 2. Footage was caught by Mark Rocky Luce of Hindsite Hunt preserve- (privately owned hunt park conveniently located only 2 miles from I-95 in East Newport Maine).The red stag rut begins around the 15th of September and runs through October. Red stags are readying for the rut being just around the corner. The stags began rubbing their velvet off about a week ago. Soon the sparring of trees will give way to real battles between rival stags for their spot in the breeding this fall.
