This is the Real Avid award-winning ‘Memory Collector’ short film about Tom “Crusty” Cruikshank.
At 24, Tom ‘Crusty’ Cruickshank moved to Alaska to chase his dreams in the rugged landscape. Driven by a dedication to live and a passion to explore life, Crusty created memories of an intricate, purposeful life in the wild, frozen north. With photos of his life stored in albums over the years, he shares each special memory which no one can ever take away from him.
Follow ‘Crusty’ as he travels almost a thousand miles to a remote spot on the Brooks Range to hunt barren ground caribou.
Produced by Real Avid in association with Hallowed Ground Outdoors / Rizen Media and the EverFire Group. The team was comprised of Crusty Cruickshank, Howard Tripp, Joe Sir, Steve Pennaz, and Nick Grzechowiak.

Along long time ago I went Alaska. A place I will never forget and admire so much. This shows alot about that special place, superb story! Maybe I’ll make back again 🙂

I find myself somewhere between a meat hunter and a trophy hunter. Of course I seek big animals, but I hate to eat a tag. The thing I am truly after however is creating memories and banking extraordinary experiences. Cheers to you Crusty for having the “pair” to pursue the life you choose and hunting for the right reasons. It is easy to get caught up in the game of inches, or the pressure to fill a tag to impress others. This film hits home, and you sir a a prime example of what hunting should be. Thanks for sharing!
