New footage from December 14, 2011’s Deer rescue performed by Banks Fire District 13 and assisting neighbors of the location. In this clip, part 1 shows the doe struggle briefly but then remains mostly calm as the boat prepares to deploy. It was around 10am when these crews arrived to this Blacktail doe deer calmly stuck in the ice. They quickly landed a successful plan and the deer followed a path they treaded through with a boat. She made way through the ice channel and rested on the bank for a few minutes. Showing signs of full recovery she soon disappeared into the woods.
The firefighters included: Tony Carter, Will Murphy, and Geoff Mcfarland. The initial plan was to pull the deer out with a rope but showing signs of getting stressed it was cancelled. A quicker method worked and gave this stranded deer a path to dry land. This adventurous day was on a frozen pond off NW Hoffer Road in the Banks Fire District.
