There is alot to be said about not filling a tag.

Success is often measured by the number of tags filled or the score of your buck
While we often imagine wrapping a tag around the trophy that taunts us in our sleep,
This is not always the outcome
Even if that tag never touches antler, a season can still be successful

What we experienced this season truly shows success in a different light,
several large deer were passed, not quite old enough for the taking
Patience became more real than in any season before,
We were reminded of the joy in putting others on their first, or largest deer
hunting day in and day out from the first day of season to the last
We learned a lot about the whitetail and ourselves
Tho we were found wanting more time come janurary,
A smile still appears as we tell our seasons story,
And one lesson lingers in our heads.
